In Mr. Halverson's class, students were learning about how to write exponential functions to modal real-life problems dealing with growth. They also introduced compound interest and learned what it is used for big and small.
JAG students went to Dakota Wesleyan University for the Career Development Conference to compete for a chance to advance to the National JAG Conference in Indianapolis. Students competed in Knowledge Bowl - Prepared Speaking - Employability Skills and Financial Literacy.
Andes Central School will be hosting Missoula Children's Theatre this week. Auditions are being held after school starting at 3:45pm. Andes Central has switched over to a digital only yearbook format. The 2024-25 Fall semester is currently available for viewing on the school website. The plan moving forward is to release a fall and spring yearbook shortly after each semester ends. This one's a bit late as we are figuring things out as we go. Suggestions are welcome and can be directed to Mr. Winter, Yearbook Advisor. The digital yearbook can be found on the website under the Gallery.
Mrs. Herrold's class celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday by making green eggs and ham. This was a great activity to also learn about states of matter.
JAG students and Mrs. Deurmier's second grade class are playing Yahtzee to practice place value to the hundreds.
Mrs. Altenburg's 7B class is preparing for state testing by practicing with interim tests.

Tonight, the AC/DC Thunder boys basketball team will host Corsica-Stickney for the Region Quarter Finals @ 7pm at Andes Central School. Admissions is $6 for adults & $4 for students. Activity passes are not permitted. Kids are to be accompanied by parents when attending. Dress up theme in support of the Thunder tonight is Hawaiian/Beach. Kindergarten students in Mrs. Sheppard's Elementary Music class played with boomwhackers!
Third grade has been working really hard on various research projects throughout the school year. After completing research, students will take the information to write a rough draft. Then, Mrs. Swanson revises their writing with them. After that, they type their research paper. Typing is a huge part of third grade as it is part of the standardized test that they will take later this month.
Mr. Sanne's 4th grade class has been working on researching an animal of their choosing and writing an essay about that animal.

8th grade CASE class is finishing their SDMyLife Unit by researching a job and creating a presentation about it. They will present them in class next week.
Mrs. Harrington & Mrs. Derry's Preschool classes went on a Safari Thursday to end their exciting week of learning about the Savanna. They created binoculars and found hats to hit the long route around the school. Students went looking for rhinos, hippos, lions, and more. The preschoolers had a check list that they marked off the animals as they were found. We had a great time on our fun filled safari!
