On Monday, Ms. Dvorak's Introduction to Education & Training class traveled to SDSU in Brooking to the Educator's Rising Expo. They went to a few different workshops held by various professors and instructors of SDSU's School of Education. They also had some time to visit with current SDSU Education majors where they were able to ask any questions they had. Last, the students got to take a bit of time to explore SDSUs campus where they toured the American Indian Student Center and a quick stop at the Dairy Bar, where they were served some of SDSU's famous ice cream.
Yesterday at Mrs. Harrington's large group, students practiced keeping a beat. We used rhythm sticks to tap a steady beat while singing "Hickory Dickory Dock" . We also tapped our sticks to each number the clock struck. Students did a good job following directions too!
Constitution Day is today, September 17th. Students in Miss Keizer's Street Law class have been learning how the Constitution sets up our government and some important rights given to them through the Bill of Rights (which were adopted September 25, 1789).

Big Thank You to Cliff Johnson for getting the Thunder Volleyball team tickets to the USD vs Iowa State game on Saturday. The team was there for the unveiling of the Summit League Championship banner and guest appearance from one of the USA Olympic gold medalists in racquetball. The team got to see some great volleyball with USD winning 3-1. The USD head coach even joined us for a picture.

Miss Ekroth's second grade class listened to Otto's Tales-Today is September 11th, to learn about the 9/11 tragedy and the holiday now known as Patriot Day. The students completed a flipbook activity on Patriot Day, the September 11th Memorial, and the role of first responders that day.
Congrats to the Thunder Volleyball team as they beat Freeman-Academy/Marion 3-0 last night to take their season to 5-1!

Mrs. Maynard's Biology II class has been identifying trees around Lake Andes. On Friday, September 6th, the class traveled to the Fort Randall Dam area to identify trees found along the river.
