The JAG students worked with the Second Grade class to create Heart Magnets for their parents & the Andes Central staff. The students worked well together and the hearts turned out amazing!
P is for popcorn! Mrs. H's preschool class explored how popcorn seeds turn into the popcorn we eat. We made predictions about what was going to happen to seeds once we put them in the popcorn popper. Then we patiently watched, listened and smelled the popcorn as it began to change. Students were so excited to see what happened and even more excited to get to eat it!

Andes Central first grade students had the opportunity to read with the Freshman Speech Class last week. The original plan was for the older students to read to the younger students, but the first graders stepped up and read to them! Great job everyone!

Andes Central Archery practice will start on Tuesday, Feb 20th for 6-12th grade students. Here's the tentative schedule for practice.
The 8th grade science class learned about DNA. They performed a lab that would extract the DNA from a strawberry. The discovered that strawberry DNA is clear, but stringy.

Ms. Dvorak's Career Exploration classes have started of the year focusing on the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources career cluster. We've had speakers from five different local organizations, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Farm Service Agency (FSA), and Wildland Firefighters/Forest Technicians from the Bureau of Indian Affairs & Yankton Sioux Tribe. The speakers visited with AC students about the various career opportunities within their organizations and what is required to obtain those careers. Thank you to these local organizations for talking with Andes Central students!
