Thunder Volleyball battled back and pushed to 5 sets last night vs TDA, but fell just short. They now prepare for back-to-back matches next week against Menno and Colome on Monday and Tuesday. Also, a big Thank You from the entire Thunder Volleyball team to the preschool students for the wonderful pictures they made for the team!






On Saturday, AC/DC Thunder Varsity Volleyball had a rough tournament in Bon Homme & lost their 3 matches. MS VB went to the Wagner tournament and took home 3rd place in the 8th grade division. Congrats to the MS team!

AC/DC Thunder Cross Country team traveled to MVP-Fish Lake Golf Course on Wednesday. Congratulations to Luke, who place 7th for the Varsity team and James, who placed 1st for the JV team!



Mrs. Hellenga's first grade class was busy practicing their math facts. The math facts were numbered around the classroom, and students had to walk the room to find and solve the problems to record on their answer sheet.





Yesterday in Mr. Halverson's Geometry class, students were learning about the volume of three-dimensional solids. Using hollow figures and water, they were able to derive formulas for the volumes of pyramids, cones, and spheres.

The Thunder Volleyball team had a tough loss Monday night to Platte-Geddes (3-1), but took a win over Scotland last night (3-0).

SDSD will be at Andes Central tomorrow, August 19th, to complete hearing screenings for students in grades K-3, 5, 7, and 11. Notes were sent home with the students. On Monday, Ms. Dvorak's Introduction to Education & Training class traveled to SDSU in Brooking to the Educator's Rising Expo. They went to a few different workshops held by various professors and instructors of SDSU's School of Education. They also had some time to visit with current SDSU Education majors where they were able to ask any questions they had. Last, the students got to take a bit of time to explore SDSUs campus where they toured the American Indian Student Center and a quick stop at the Dairy Bar, where they were served some of SDSU's famous ice cream.


Yesterday at Mrs. Harrington's large group, students practiced keeping a beat. We used rhythm sticks to tap a steady beat while singing "Hickory Dickory Dock" . We also tapped our sticks to each number the clock struck. Students did a good job following directions too!
