Mr. Cole Johnson's 8th graders are learning how to relate constant rate of change and proportional relationships to slope while showing the data in a graph. In this activity the 8th grade students measured the distance the car went while tracking the total time it took the car. Then the students found the distance per second and used different representations such as equation and graph. Using these two representations the students were able to calculate how far the car would travel after so many seconds, minutes, and hours.
